‘Come over’ subverts the familiar function of objects within living spaces, and suggests a new interior landscape. Rogerson’s work arouses the intimacy within objects, and highlights new understandings of utility, lifestyle and purpose.
The works sit within the paradigm of the art space, yet they converse with that of a living space. The art space / living space crossover permeates the works and reconstructs the understanding of art objects as useable things; they can be employed within living space and lifestyle. As the title suggests, the viewer is invited to ‘come over,’ encouraging congeniality within the artwork, the interior landscape and how they, as art-objects, can infiltrate lifestyle, conjuring a situation beyond the artwork’s present interior term.
